Our friends in the East
Things were buzzing down Farringdon way as Clerkenwell Design Week (CDW) comes to a close today. On three ‘industrial chic’ floors of former Victorian glass works, the Farmiloe Building, plenty of gorgeous furniture and lighting was on display to inspire the most avid design groupie. Our friends at Deadgood and Pinch both showed some lovely pieces (see pictures).
Wood, wood and more wood, the majority of the furniture on display was in natural wood, much of it harking back to the modular feel of late 1950’s early 1960’s furniture. Formica made an appearance on a table surface (it probably wasn’t Formica but it sure looked like it) and in the depths of the atmospheric House of Detention we spotted some interesting concrete furniture and rather beautiful tables with filigree surfaces.
CDW is not only a source of inspiration and a place to keep a finger on the design pulse of London but is always a great place to spot emerging talent. Clerkenwell Design Week has yielded us plenty of food for thought and who knows you may see some of the pieces in our Wigmore Street showroom soon…watch this space…
