Inside Outside

With this glorious sunshine we thought it appropriate to look at extensions and bringing the indoors outside. In a world where we all need to slow down, get back to nature and appreciate the great outdoors, luxury kitchens that extend beyond their natural boundaries are increasingly popular.

Bi-fold doors that disappear when folded back create beautiful light filled rooms and allow the kitchen, dining and living space to flow naturally into the garden. Our tips for creating a kitchen that flows seamlessly from inside to outdoors are to use the same flooring both inside and out to extend the illusion of space; ensure that as far as possible outdoor lighting is an extension of the indoor lighting scheme and create a visual link through the colour, design or texture of both indoor and outdoor furniture.

We are seeing more and more kitchens that flow from the indoors to outside. Extensions with big bi-fold glass doors that disappear completely when open, creating beautiful light filled rooms with glass doors and walls that allow the kitchen, dining and living space to flow naturally into the garden and the outdoors are very popular with Roundhouse clients.

Also consider the right outdoor furniture for al fresco dining with care, so that there is a visual link either through colour, design or texture with the interior.

There is truly something to be said for letting the outdoors in. It can create a sense of calm and mindfulness, while also extending your home greatly, providing another space that is waiting to be used.
