This slow-burning trend has been creeping into our design psyche for a while now, and we’ve already completed several projects where metal framed shelving has formed a pivotal focal point. For our most recent Vauxhall project (main image), we created a bespoke frame in antique brass with glass shelving, and in the Munro project above, the blackened steel frame lends a stronger, industrial vibe. Filled with glassware, these striking pieces offer both practical storage and a sleek alternative to solid wall cabinets, allowing light to flow freely and preserving the view through the space. The suspended shelving trend is also gaining momentum because it offers the chance to introduce new materials. We love to echo the metallic finish of shelving framework on the handles and hardware, creating a cohesive, layered look with design depth.

Hidden tech

Another booming trend in kitchen interior design is the push towards seamless, furniture-like aesthetics with appliances and tech concealed behind closed doors. This approach transforms the kitchen into a more relaxed living space, where functionality meets elegance. It also means you can eat and entertain in a more serene environment, without the backdrop of beeping appliances or a constant reminder of household chores.

Again, our Vauxhall project, with its stack of high-end Gaggeanu ovens hidden behind tall doors to create a sleek, uncluttered appearance, is a great example. We’ve also designed concealed kitchens where much wider sections, encompassing the sink station and small appliances, can all be neatly tucked away behind sliding pocket doors. The result is a design that blurs the boundaries between kitchen and living areas, without disrupting the ergonomics and functionality when cooking up a storm. Hiding your appliances and other tech turns the focus to beautiful craftsmanship and design details, creating a more comfortable space for relaxation and family time.

The new way to display

Open shelving is yesterday’s gravy; the new way to showcase treasured ceramics and tableware is within beautifully crafted glass display cabinets. Forget freestanding dressers and cabinets hovering on the periphery of the dining area, this hottest of all interior design trends sees glazed cabinets taking centre stage in the very heart of the cooking action. The benefits are similar to open shelving, in terms of promoting a feeling of openness and space, just without the eternal dusting! This modern reinterpretation of traditional display cabinets is all about combining style with functionality. Perfect for storing everyday essentials like glassware, crockery, and mugs, everything is conveniently within reach for effortless use. Reserve the higher shelves for decorative items or rarely used kitchenware, curating a display that’s as beautiful as it is practical. This isn’t the spot for cereal boxes or the slow cooker—think carefully chosen pieces that elevate the aesthetic of the space.

Stones get bolder

Step aside, pale grey marbles – bold, high-energy worktops are on the rise. As daring homeowners embrace statement materials, these standout surfaces are already making waves, delivering undeniable impact and transforming kitchens into true showstoppers. We’re still obsessed with natural stones but kitchen trends 2025 signal a significant shift away from classic white marbles like Carrara, Statuario, and Thassos. Instead, the spotlight is on stones in bold, vibrant colours, intricate patterns, and rich textures, reflecting a growing appetite for more dynamic and expressive surface designs. It’s not just the type of stone that’s evolving – finishes are being scrutinised, too. Requests for more tactile, sensory surfaces, like this leathered Verde Fantastico quartzite, are coming in fast, as the design-savvy seek surfaces with a luxurious, velvety texture that feel as good as they look. 

Fresh green

No kitchen trends 2025 round up would be complete without a colour forecast, and this year all the interior design trends forecasters are pointing towards Pistachio Green. Striking the perfect balance between warm and cool, this lively, nature-inspired glorious green breathes fresh energy into kitchen design, offering a vibrant and refreshing alternative to the moody grey-greens that have recently dominated the kitchen colour trend charts. Whether on cabinetry or as a striking accent wall or splashback, Pistachio delivers an uplifting pop of colour without overpowering the space.
